Our backyard is a playground for squirrels. Today I watched this guy plop right down on a branch and relax. Curious about his intent, I spied on my furry friend for a while before I realized that vegging out was his only intention. How profound that even squirrels – creatures that have a seemingly unending energy supply – understand the importance of rest. Isn’t it odd that us humans with high-functioning brain capacity haven’t implemented this way of life yet? I’m moved by the wisdom I witnessed in this brilliant animal. I’m inspired by how they’ve mastered the work/life balance that homosapiens have yet to learn. And I’m motivated to seek out more time just hanging out in nature without a care in the world.
